Real Nakonde loses appeal

The FAZ Appeals Committee has ruled on the appeal by Real Nakonde Football Club over the alleged use of an ineligible player by Malalo Police in a Division One Week Two fixture.

According to the ruling by the committee comprising Lukangaba Sukwana, Isaac Nonde and Joseph Nkole, the player in question has been found to have been eligible to feature for the respondent (Malalo Police).

“We are now satisfied that the player in question was indeed eligible to play for the respondent during the week two fixture game against the appellant,” reads the ruling.
“We also concur with the reasoning of the Player Status and Transfer Committee that the subsequent dubious registration of the said player cannot be left without sanctions being meted out.”

The committee resolved to reduce the three year-ban to one year.

“We are of the view that the K10, 000 fine imposed on the respondent, Malalo Police FC and the recommendation that they be demoted to the league below is unjustified in this case,” stated the judgment.

The ruling means Prison Leopards will maintain its place in the Super Division that kickoff on January 27/FAZ.
