Ramaphosa Pays Tribute To RB

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has conveyed heartfelt condolences to Zambia following the death of former President Rupiah Banda.

President Ramphosa said Mr Banda was a dedicated and selfless leader, who worked hard for the country.

He said Mr Banda served the country well as a senior diplomat in several posts under first President Kenneth Kaunda before being appointed as Vice-President in 2006 by then President Levy Mwanawasa.

President Ramphosa said the people of the two nations are united in mourning the passing of the late statesman.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC news by Acting Spokesperson to President Ramphosa, Tyrone Seale.

Meanwhile, Nigerian High Commissioner to Zambia Ominyl Eze has described the late Mr Banda as a clear democrat, nationalist and great African leader who contributed massively to the development of Zambia and the African continent.

Mr Eze said Mr Banda made immense contributions to the global community especially while on diplomatic assignments.

He said Nigeria is mourning with Zambia over the loss of a gallant son of the soil.
