Heart of Love, a Non-Governmental organization based in Chingola has donated four toilet pans to Push Community School in Kapisha Township.
Push community school has two toilets currently and one of which is used by the 654 pupils and the other is used by the stuff members.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Heart of Love Chairperson Amos Kitenda called on the Co-operate world and individual residents to come on board and help rehabilitate the community school.
Mr Kitenda said that it is vital for the pupils at the school have a good learning environment that is also conducive.
He also pledged to work with the school in helping 10 most vulnerable children at the school, in terms of sponsorship of school necessities.
And Kapisha ward Councillor Geoffrey Ng’adwe said it is unfortunate that a once beautiful school in the community has been vandalized beyond recognition over the years.
Mr Ng’andwe said that peri-urban development community had a vision for the residents but once handed over to the community; unscrupulous members of the community saw the opportunity to vandalize the school.
“However all hope is not lost, I want to thank the heart of love for this gesture, to make the school better, we all need to be involved, as a civic leader I will lobby for support and see how far we will go in rehabilitating the school,” he said.
Mr Ng’andwe also said that he will lobby from the Government through area Member of Parliament Derricky Chilundika part of the CDF funds to be allocated to rehabilitate the school.
Speaking at the same event, Push Community School Acting Head teacher Brenda Nyirenda expressed gratitude for the donation made.
Ms Nyirenda said once the toilets are inserted, there will be good levels of hygiene as compared to now.
She also revealed that aside the issue of toilets, the school is also grappled with shortage of desks and uncompleted 1 by 3 classroom block which would be beneficial once completed.
And a community member, Linda Bwalya thanked heart of love for giving the school the toilet pans, adding that they should continue helping the school as much as possible because it benefits the venerable in the community
