President Lungu’s Economic diplomacy paying off-Mukwita

Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany, Anthony Mukwita says President Edgar Lungu’s economic diplomacy is paying off and must be encouraged.

Ambassador Mukwita complimented how economic diplomacy between Zambia and Germany has grown in the most recent five years of President Lungu.

Ambassador Mukwita specially spoke about massive development in the areas of energy, agricultural and tourism sectors in Zambia that have expanded exponentially since President Lungu assumed office.

“Some of the developments in the diversification of sources of electricity in Zambia are partly due to some of the engagements the embassy in Berlin is involved with, on the tourism front, the Berlin Mission approved and facilitated for three film crews to visit Zambia in the past two years to enhance the sector, and in agricultural front, Amatheon, a German firm has invested in agro-processing whose produce is now being sold on the German market,” he said.

Ambassador Mukwita said the 100-million-dollar investment has 2500 full time employees while its sister company, Real Meat Africa has opened 160 outlets in Zambia in the past one year.

He added the investments and many others are the outcome of President Lungu’s economic diplomacy whose focus is the reduction of poverty and improvement in the living standards of the Zambian people.

This is according to a media statement issued by Press Secretary at the embassy of Zambia in Berlin, Kellys Kaunda.
