President Lungu continues empowering Chingola marketeers

By JOHN SAKALA
President Edgar Lungu has given Chingola marketeers K86, 000 in his continued marathon of empowering the marketeers.

Under the Presidential Empowerment Fund (PEF), President Lungu has already given out K580, 000 to various marketeers in Chingola who operate in designated markets.

Over the weekend, President Lungu sent Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa to deliver another K86, 000 to marketeers in Chingola.

Two tailoring groups also benefited from the helping hand of the President.

Maiteneke marketeers received the last batch of K25, 000 having received the equal amount during last time’s empowerment.

Maiteneke Market Chairperson Rebecca Samwata received the money on behalf of the marketeers at Chingola Constituency office.

Faith Mulabita received K10, 000 on behalf of Kwaqueens Tailoring, a team of 10 Tailors who operate from Town Centre while Rona Musonda received the same amount on behalf of Women of Steel, a group of 23 women operating from Chiwempala.

Mr Nkhuwa’s next stop was at Chikola market where it was Christmas in November for Theresa Chingoni.

Ms Chingoni was found as a lone marketeer at the Council constructed market shelter while other marketeers where reported to be operating from the street and homes.

To encourage marketeers to operate from designated areas, Mr Nkhuwa left K1, 000 for Ms Chingoni.

At Kalilo market he left K15, 000 as revolving fund for the marketeers where he urged them not to share the money but rather use it as revolving fund where marketeers can be accessing it as soft loan.

On this longwinded tour of empowerment, Ngosa marketeers along Solwezi road received K10, 000 while Muchinshi marketeers got K15, 000.

His last spot was Mutenda market which has regularly benefited from several empowerments of Mr Nkhuwa.

Among them bicycles for marketeers and money to boost their business and receiving K15, 000 from President was oiling the hands that have been on the receiving end.

The recipients, Ms Chingoni at Chikola, Emeldah Nalungwe at Kalilo, Ireen Chisha at Ngosa, Emerie Sabiye at Muchinshi and Gertrude Chindunda Mutenda all thanked President Lungu and Mr Nkhuwa for empowering them.
