PRESIDENT HICHILEMA EXPECTED IN ANGOLA

President Hakainde Hichilema is on December 4 th, 2024, expected in Angola for an Official Visit.

This is contained in a statement, by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe.

Mr Haimbe clarified that the visit is an invitation of João Manuel Gonçalves lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola.

President Hichilema will participate in the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment Lobito Corridor Summit to be convened by the Government of Angola on the margins of the State Visit by Joseph Biden, President of the United States of America.

Mr Haimbe added that the meeting will focus on the development of the Lobito Corridor, a critical regional infrastructure project aimed at enhancing trade and connectivity across southern Africa.

He further said the Summit, which is expected to be attended by the Democratic Republic of Congo and the United Republic of Tanzania, will celebrate and highlight progress on the development of the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor and the partnership of the Lobito Corridor Consortium.

Mr Haimbe stressed that President Hichilema will also take part in a high-level discussion, alongside other Heads of State and Government, and international partners, among the events lined up.

“President Hichilema has emphasised the importance of the Lobito Corridor in promoting trade, regional integration, and economic growth. The President’s participation in the high-level Summit underscores Zambia’s commitment to advancing this strategic initiative,” he said.
