As the Lenten Season began yesterday on Ash Wednesday the Catholic Church world over through the holy Father Pope Francis has Directed all Catholic Churches across the world to pray for peace and unit in Ukraine and Russia.
Pope Francis says the mother church across the world should at all times during the Lenten Season pray and committee the two Leaders in Ukraine and Russia to God and find the common ground to settle the differences than resolving to war.
And Speaking during the ash Wednesday Mass to start the 40 days of Lenten Season Catholic diocese of Solwezi Bishop Charles Kasonde says Lenten Season is the time for repentance and forgiveness to each.
Bishop Kasonde has however reaffirmed the call by the holy Father Pope Francis to pray for peace and unit.
Rt. Rev. Bishop Kasonde has called on the Christians and all the parishioners at the cathedral’s of St Daniel’s parish in Solwezi diocese to live a prayerful life, peace and love for one another during this period of Rent.
He added that the if the war intensifies it will negatively affect many countries economically hence the much need to pray for peace and unit for the two countries Russia and Ukraine.
His lordship the bishop has urged Christian’s to refrain from sin and believe in the Lord especially during the 40 days of Lenten Season.
Bishop Kasonde was speaking in his homely the ash Wednesday to mark the beginning of the renten Season at the cathedral of St. Daniel’s parish.
