Power Dynamos coach sent on leave

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Power Dynamos have sent coach Perry Mutapa on administrative leave just days after losing to bitter rivals Nkana in a local derby.

Nkana ended their 10-match winless run by beating Power 2-0 on Sunday at Arthur Davies Stadium.

According to a statement issued by the club’s media department, assistant coach and Mutapa’s close friend Masautso Tembo will act as caretaker coach.

“Power would like to inform the football fraternity that it has placed head coach Mutapa on administrative leave until further notice,” read a brief statement in part.

Mutapa and Tembo have worked together at two clubs before moving to Power.

The duo were together at Lusaka Dynamos and Forest Rangers before joining Power in November 2019.

Tembo, a former international, will work alongside George Chilufya, Ronald Mukosha, goalkeeper trainer Yusuf Lumu and physical trainer Noble Bwalya.

“The club would like to urge it’s fans to continue supporting the team as it continues to contend for top four finish,” the statement further read.

Power are eight on the log with 38 points.

Power have however not stated the duration of Mutapa’s leave.

Tembo will begin his temporal tenure tomorrow against Zanaco at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.
