Police have retrieved the two girls abducted by the Nyau dancers in Chief Mafuta’s area.

Eastern Province Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sharon Zulu confirmed this during a press briefing at her office this morning.

Ms Zulu said Police moved in yesterday after receiving a report of abduction through Mugubudu Police Post, by parents of the affected girls.

She has indicated that a male suspected, Isaac Sakala believed to be the master mind behind the abduction, has since been picked up to help police with further investigations.

Ms Zulu said it is believed that the girls were not subjected to any form of abuse but that they were kept safe.

And in a separate interview, Chief Chanje of the Chewa speaking people has expressed happiness that the girls have finally been retrieved.

He has however appealed to the Police to ensure that they bring all the suspects to book so that it serves as a warning to would be offenders.

The Chief has also cautioned members of Gule Wamukulu to desist from taking the law into their own hands.
