Police in Lusaka have rescued a man identified as Henry Mulenga  28, of unmarked house in Misisi compound who climbed a height of  50 metres with a view to take his own life.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said investigations indicate that Mulenga, who is alleged to have migrated from Kitwe to Lusaka once, lived with a friend known as Lukwesa of Misisi Township for some time, but later started to live in the streets.

Mr Mwale said as of December 11, 2022 he is reported to have taken some drugs which allegedly caused him to be experiencing multiple voices in his head, a thing which prompted him to find a place where he could take his own life.

“He managed to find a water tank in makeni Villa of Kanyama which he climbed with the view of throwing himself to the ground.

“Fortunately, he was spotted by members of the public who disturbed him and called the Police who arrived at the scene within time and managed to rescue him,” he said.

Mr Mwale said Mulenga has since been taken to Kanyama level 1 Hospital for treatment of some noticed facial injuries.
