PF wins Kaumbwe Parliamentary seat

Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) has scooped the Kaumbwe parliamentary seat.

PF’s Aaron Mwanza has got 6,663 votes against his closest rival Esnart Sakala of the ruling UPND who has obtained 3,117 votes.

Masauso Daka of the Socialist Party has occupied the third place with one thousand 835 votes, trailed by Wilbase Tembo of the Democratic Party (DP) who has polled 517 votes.

Independent candidates Listed Tembo has gotten 446 votes while his counterpart Yunike Mwale, also an Independent has collected 191 votes.

Charles Nyanoka of Party for National Unity and Progress (PNUP) has trailed all the candidates with 1-hundred and 20 votes.

Returning Officer Alick Mtonga announced the results this morning at 06:05 hours.
Mr Mtonga said 13, 89 votes were cast against over 30 thousand registered voters and that 330 ballots were rejected.

The Kaumbwe seat was earlier earmarked for contest during the August 12, 2021, General election but could not take off as one of the candidates Boniface Khondowe of the UPND died shortly before the polls.
