MMD says the ruling PF will crumble without the alliance with MMD, following the firing of MMD President Felix Mutati from PF cabinet.
But PF in Eastern Province has jubilated the firing of Felix Mutati as Works and Supply Minister by President Edgar Lungu.
President Lungu has earlier relieved Mr Mutati of his duties as Minister of Works and Supply and revoked his nomination as Member of Parliament.
MMD Eastern Province Provincial Chairperson Jacob Mwanza said President Lungu had done them a favour to relieve Mr Mutati of his duties.
Mr Mwanza said the move by the PF will help the party carryout its activities without any hindrances.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Mwanza said the perceived alliance between MMD and the PF had not been working well especially in the lower organs of the party.
“The current cabinet of PF does not give any hope of making things better for the country. And PF has continued creating a lot of enemies around themselves,” he said.
But PF acting Eastern Province Provincial Chairperson William Phiri commended President Lungu for sucking Mr Mutati saying it was long overdue.
Mr Phiri said the PF Eastern province leadership being the pioneers last year which petitioned President Lungu to fire Mr Mutati feels their calls have been answered.
“The Party has made an appeal to Cabinet Ministers secretly dealing with Felix Mutati to be very careful and exhibit true loyalty to the President, the country and help to develop Zambia,” he said.
Earlier this week, Mr Mutati was fired for allegedly masterminding the listing of ZAFFICO on Lusaka Stock Exchange with a view of wanting to get lions share with his South African partners.
