PF mourns Munkombwe

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
PF shocked with death of veteran politician Daniel Munkombwe.

PF Media Director Sunday Chanda said that the party had learnt with shock the death of a beloved freedom fighter and former Southern Province Minister.

“The Patriotic Front (PF) Central Committee and general membership have learnt with sadness the demise of former Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe.  Mr Munkombwe meant different things to different people and sometimes in a very controversial mode.

“One thing that can’t be taken away from him is that, Mr Munkombwe has  a  special place in the life of our nation in pre and post-Independence for Zambia,” he said.

PF Secretary General Davis Mwila has also bemoaned what appears to be the era of those stalwarts who fought for Zambia’s liberation from colonialism.

Mr Mwila said Mr Munkombwe spoke his mind irrespective who agreed with him or not.

“Those of us who are left behind must endure the pain of seeing the generation of our freedom fighters leave us one by one. Their enduring spirit and unity of purpose won us this freedom and may we learn from them in order to do good and better for mother Zambia in our time,” he said.
