Pastor’s car set ablaze

Police in Muchinga are investigating a case of Arson in which a pastor’s car was set ablaze by unknown people.

Police spokesperson Esther Katongo told The Independent Observer that the motor vehicle Registration Number ABA 6665 ISUZU KB 220LE twin cab Van White in color which belongs to Lawrence Mutale, 57 a Pastor of True Faith Bible Ministry of Kanyama Township in Mpika was set ablaze.

Ms Katongo said incident happened on February 1, 2021 between 03:00 hours and 04:00 hours and the value of the property burnt is worth K61, 000.00.

She said on January 31, 2021 around 17:00 hours, the complainant had parked the motor vehicle at his home but in the mid of the night, he heard strange noise outside where he had parked the vehicle.

Ms Katongo said upon checking through the bedroom window, he saw the fire inside the vehicle from the driver’s seat and the rear right passenger’s door was wide open.

She said he quickly notified the District Fire Brigade who managed to put out the fire.

He said after members of the public and neighbors attempted to help put it off with sand.

Ms Katongo said that the police have instituted Investigations in the matter.
