Open letter to Army Commander: illegal postings from rural military cantonments

Dear Sir,

The Zambia Army Commander Lt Gen William Sikazwe first of all I would like to congratulate you on you appointment as Zambia Army Commander, and the good vision you have for the army.

As great philosophers like Winston Churchill once said “Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak “and courage is what it takes to sit down and listen.”

The Army Commander Sir the issue of illegal postings has become a cancer in the military which needs to be stopped as your subordinate commanders are engaged in all sorts of corrupt activities thereby hindering the effectiveness of the Army at large and your vision as the commander.

Administration branch is flooded with a lot of illegalities starting from the top management till down.

Personally I come from western province particularly 5ZR Luena Barracks and this ismy 20th year in the system.

The Army Commander Sir, work is becoming hectic, as majority of men have corruptly fled the district due to the following to one or the reasons;

The remote nature and under development of the district.

The housing infrastructure as soldiers live in houses made of mud. The work load as soldiers carry the burden of doing tasks needed to be done by more personnel’s as the result of mentioned statements soldiers corruptly flee the Area.

These problems contribute to the reduced effectiveness of the Army in the region and makes the Zambia army unpopular.

In this regard sir, am requesting that the command can implement a strong policy on postings and put in stiff punishments for the perpetrators of the vice.

Rex Makubu
Yours in Service
