The Zambia National Building Society-ZNBS- has revealed that the latest statistics show that only 19 percent of women in Zambia own land titles.
ZNBS Managing Director Mildred Mutesa said the static is a source of concern as most women are not benefiting from the national housing policy.
Ms Mutesa has since called for a mindset change towards the acquisition of title deeds Women.
She was speaking during the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Women Leadership Business Network, workshop held in Lusaka.
Ms Mutesa has since challenged women to strategically take up key roles in various institutions so that they can immensely contribute to national and economic development.
And Speaking to journalist on the sidelines of the workshop Non- Governmental Organizations Coordinating Council- NGOCC- Executive Director Engwase Mwale called for concerted efforts to ensure that more women acquire land titles.
Ms Mwale said the 19 percent static is worrisome and shows that more women have not been empowered to own tangible assets.
And ZRA Acting Commissioner General Moses Shuko said there is need to increase women participation in various sectors in order to empower the current and future generation.
