A-one-year 11 months old baby has died after drowning in water well in Ng’ombe Township.
The incident happened on March 14, 2023 around 18:00 hours when the mother was bathing outside. It was reported that the baby was sleeping in the house while the mother was bathing.
Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said when the mother returned to the room where the baby was left, she discovered that the baby was missing and immediately she begun searching until the baby was seen gasping for life in an uncovered water well within the yard.
Mr Mwale said members of the community assisted to retrieve the baby identified as Ngwane Nkhata and was rushed to Ng’ombe Clinic where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
He said the body is in the University Teaching Hospitals Mortuary awaiting Postmortem and burial.
