One person dies in a fatal road accident along Kitwe-Chingola road

One person has died will four others sustained serious injuries in a fatal road traffic accident along Kitwe – Chingola road at Chambishi Copper Smelter mine road junction.

Involved were two motor vehicles a Toyota Runex reg. no.  BCE 2210zm which was extensively damaged and it was being driven by Yumbula Lukwaso 27, of Solwezi and a Fuso Fighter (light truck) reg. no. ACH 560 which had its rear left rim damaged and it was being driven by an unknown driver who didn’t stop after the accident

Copperbelt Police commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed the accident which occurred on February 26, 2023 about 19:45 hours, said the accident happened when the driver of fuso fighter who was moving from south turning to east direction, turned right without due care and the driver of Toyota runex who was moving from north to south hit onto the rear left rim of the said fuso.

Mr Mweemba said the drive of the Runex sustained a bruised face, suspected internal body injuries and has been admitted to Kitwe Teaching Hospital.

He said on board, was Daka Jinala 23 of Mufulira who sustained multiple head injuries and she died on the spot, and her body has been deposited to Chambishi Govt. clinic mortuary.

Others were Mwaba Sakalimba 30 who sustained a bleeding cut on the left arm , suspected internal  body injuries and is admitted to Chambishi Government clinic,  Sinyangwe Andrew 23,  of Kawama Township, Kitwe sustained multiple cuts  on the face, general body pains and he has been admitted to Kitwe Teaching hospital and also an  unknown Adult  aged between 50 to 55years of unknown address who sustained cuts on the head , suspected internal body injuries and  has been admitted to Kitwe teaching hospital,” he said.
