One-old drowns in Lusaka

A-one-year two month old baby has drowned in Chelston Rhodes Camp in Lusaka.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said brief facts of the matter are that the now victim was left in the custody of her Aunt who mentioned that the victim left the house around 09:00 hours to play with her friend in the neighborhood.

Mr Hamoonga said at around 11:00 hours, when the uncle came back home he noticed a cloth from the well and he decided to go and check.

He said upon physical inspection, the body of a Female Juvenile Chinyama Michengela was found floating lifeless.

Mr Hamoonga said it was immediately retrieved from the water and taken to Chelston Clinic where it was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred yesterday July 18, 2023 between 09:00 hours and 11:30 hours.

The deceased has since been deposited in Chelston Clinic Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
