One person died while four others sustained serious injuries in a road traffic accident which occurred on May 24, 2020 at 11:00 hours between Nchelenge and Chienge districts at Fwangeni Village.
Kunda Kalasa 20, of Nchelenge District died on the spot when the motor bike she was travelling on with four others was hit by a Hino truck registration number BAE 6017 property of senior Chief Puta.
Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said the accident happened when the driver of the truck, Felix Mwamba 42, misjudged clearance distance and hit an unregistered motor bike with five pillions on it including the deceased.
Mr Mwale said the driver of the motor bike identified as Evans Musonda age not known, Abel Mpundu 20, Justine Kapambwe and a three year old child identified as Rabecca Kapambwe are admitted to Nchelenge District hospital where they are receiving treatment.
He said the Hino truck had no damages while the motor bike was extensively damaged.
“The driver of the truck has since been charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving,” he said.
