The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has released K500, 000, to be paid to the contractor paving the main bus station in Kapiri Mposhi.
The Local Authority is pleased with this development as it will enable the contractor to complete the remaining works so that the station can be used by bus operators and Taxis.
Kapiri Mposhi Town Council Public Relations Officer Chris Mulaliki said the Contractor that had demobilized from the site is expected to resume works this week to complete the paving and other minor works.
Mr Mulaliki said the Council is appealing to motorists to allow the contractor to carry out works without being disturbed.
He said the contract to pave the bus station was awarded in January 2018 to Kamufields enterprise limited at a cost of K1, 200, 000.00 to be funded by NFRA and the project was supposed to be completed within six months.
Mr Mulaliki said NFRA has so far paid K1 million to the contractor and the council expects the contractor to finish the remaining minor works before the end of June 2020.
“We are grateful for the support we have continued to receive from our stakeholders during the construction of the bus station,” he said.
