No Chinese is taking over KCM-Nchanga MP

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
PF Nchanga Member of Parliament Chali Chilombo has refuted the rumor going round that a Chinese firm is eying to take over Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) from Vedanta Mineral Resources.

Mr Chilombo said the rumor that is going round that Government wants to takeover KCM and hand it over to a Chinese firm is fake.

He wondered who can hand pick a replacement when there is someone owning the mine.

“At this time KCM owners may decide to borrow and pay off debts. There is no Chinese investor coming to replace KCM current owners. Government’s interest is normalization of the economy of Chingola and the contribution of the GDP by the mines to this country,” he said.

The MP said that the mine is a world class mine with high grade copper and has many investors eying it so the Chinese thing is just a rumor.

Mr Chilombo was responding to the question at the PF interactive Forum with the media in Chingola yesterday.
