Nkana held in Champions League

Nkana coach Kelvin Kaindu has admitted that his side was in a tricky position to advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League after Wednesday’s 1-1 home draw against Petro Atletico of Angola.

Kalampa conceded a late goal as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Petro in the first leg match of the CAF Champions League pre-group stage played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Striker Adriano Nicolau Yano came off the bench to punish Nkana with a 90th minute equalizing goal after midfielder Harrison Chisala put the home side in front in the 60th minute.

In a post-match interview, Kaindu regretted the late goal Nkana leaked.

“I think it is still open though a bit difficult on our side because of the goal we have allowed,” said Kaindu.

Coach Casano said the return leg to be played on January 6 in Luanda, Angola will be decisive.

“Chances to progress are 50-50. Football is complicated; football is open until the last minutes of the game. We must concentrate and respect Nkana,” said Casano.
