New Mulonga board urged to help improve service delivery

Government has urged the new Board of Directors for Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company (MWSC) to provide strategic direction toward improving service delivery.

Speaking during the unveiling of the new Board of Directors, Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha said that Government expects the directors to provide policy and strategic direction to help the company raise its service levels.

Mr Mposha said Boards play a critical role in spearheading utilities in improving water, sanitation and good hygiene in their areas of jurisdiction.

He said Government is committed to the principles of good governance in line with UPND manifesto which seeks to foster good governance as a foundation of wellbeing of the Zambian people.

The Minister said that the board is expected to provide much needed oversight to the commercial utility and contribute to attainment of the countries agenda of providing water for all by 2030.

“The occasion of unveiling Board of Directors presents a milestone in accelerating the attainment of universal access to water and sanitation as prescribed in the vision 2030,” he said.

The new MWSC Board of Directors are Chairperson Ms Nachilala Nkombo, Dr Christine Nakamba, Mr Kabombo Mutakela, Ms Caroline Nampungwe, Mr Emmanuel Banda, Mr Ignatius Shilangwa, Mr Elijah Banda and Mr James Tembo.
