A group of unknown criminals, armed with an unknown firearm, attacked two security guards at Sathya Sai Boys School in Ndola’s Kawama Township and stole property worth K14,600, including a genset.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba said that according to the facts, two guards reported for duty on October 19, 2024, at 18:00 hours. However, in the early hours of October 20, 2024, around 01:00 hours, while they were on duty, they were attacked and tied up, their hands and legs bound.

Mr. Mweemba stated that after being tied up, the criminals broke into three offices and stole various items, including a Royib red genset valued at K12,000, a black Eagle bicycle valued at K2,000, an office calculator valued at K200, and two cellphones valued at K600, totaling K14,600.

The security guard, Funwell Mazabuka, 35, was badly beaten and sustained painful injuries, including a pelvis injury, shoulder pain, backache, a bruised left cheek, and general body pains.

Mr. Mweemba said the matter was reported at Pamodzi Market Police Post by Norbert Ngosa, 55, a fellow security guard on duty. Metal bars were used to inflict the injuries.

Mazabuka was taken to Ndola Teaching Hospital, where he was admitted. The scene was visited and processed by a scenes-of-crime officer, and a case docket was opened. No arrests or recoveries have been made.

Commissioner Mweemba confirmed the incident.
