NDC youths to stage a protest demanding for reopening of CBU

By ALICE NACHILEMEBE
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Copperbelt Provincial Youth Chairperson Bernard Mwila says NDC youths on the Copperbelt will hold a peaceful demonstration against the continuous closure of the Copperbelt University by the PF resume

Mr Mwila said NDC acknowledges the importance of education for citizenry which is considered as a human right.

He said the continuous closure of CBU is a total violation of human right.

Mr Mwila said NDC has notified police in writing for the records purposes knowing too well that police can’t grant them permission to proceed with the demonstration.

He said the closure of CBU is not the bad behaviour of student or poor management by Lecturers but it PF failure to meet its contractual agreement.

“Our people can’t be marginalised as we watch and just talk. It is time for action, we can’t have a generation that fear tear gas and a bullet if it means exchanging of tear gas for education let it be. We want our students to have a better life and hope in education.

“We will match to the District Commissioners office to hand over a letter of incompetence of the PF Government and a protest letter that people on the Copperbelt are not happy with the closure of the CBU ,” he said.
