Nchanga MP takes action to assist Gymkhana demolition victims

In a determined effort to address the ongoing issue of demolitions in Gymkhana area of Bupalo Ward, Nchanga Member of Parliament Derricky Chilundika, has promised to take steps in finding a lasting solutions for the affected residents.

Recent developments indicate that a total of 42 houses in Gymkhana area are affected by the demolition that took place over the weekend on the land court ruled out that Chingola veterinary Doctor Emmanuel Chitambala is the legal owner, leaving numerous families in distress.

Mr Chilundika has initiated discussions with Chingola council management, including the Mayor, to expedite efforts in finding an alternative and lasting solution for the victims.

He said he has personally reached out to each of the 42 affected families, offering words of comfort, encouragement, and reassurance.

Mr Chilundika has urged them to remain patient, emphasizing that the government, through the local authority, is actively addressing their plight.

“It is important to note that the Gymkhana demolition issue has been a persistent concern dating back to 2019 or 2020, long before the current leadership took office,” he said.
