Nchanga Member of Parliament Derricky Chilundika has issued an ultimatum to Magnum Security, warning the company to pay its workers’ outstanding salaries and gratuity by Wednesday, April 30th.
The workers, based in Chingola and contracted to Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), had approached Mr. Chilundika, complaining about persistent delays in payments.
The MP has given Magnum Security until the deadline to settle the outstanding payments.
Mr Chilundika said failure to comply will result in further action.
Mr. Chilundika emphasized that the delayed payments affect the workers’ livelihoods, making it difficult for them to pay rent and meet basic needs.
After discussions with Magnum Security, the Labor Office, and KCM, the company’s Chingola Branch Manager, Jerome Mweemba, promised to pay the workers’ salaries and gratuity by the deadline.
Mr. Mweemba attributed the delay to technical challenges and the holidays, assuring that the company is working to improve and is compliant with all laws.
