Napsa Stars inability to win matches continued on Wednesday after fellow strugglers Lumwana Radiants beat them at Woodlands Stadium to leave their chances of surviving relegation hanging by a thread.
The Pensioners lost 2-1 to Lumwana to register their fifth straight defeat and remain stuck on 36 points.
Midfielder Danny Silavwe gave Napsa an early lead but the visitors equalized in the second half through Dominic Chungwa’s header before Dina Dinanga sealed victory in the 73 minute.
Napsa’ failure to collect maximum points means that Napsa will have to win the remaining three games to survive relegation.
Acting head coach Kampamba Chintu said in a post match interview that he will push his charges as they still have a chance to survive the drop.
” We have to work harder in our future games and we just have to win. We have beaten them before so we face them with a positive mentality,” said Chintu,whose side played majority of the match with a man less after defender Amos Simwanza was sent off.
And Lumwana coach Bilton Musonda said the team has a lot of time to prepare and has hope that they will not be demoted to division one.
“After having concurring games, we had a one week rest and prepared the team and that preparation has made us come from behind and win the game otherwise we did not start on a good note, we allowed the homeside to score early.
“At the moment we can reach somewhere if we continue collecting maximum points from the last three games we have. And when the red card came, I knew we are going to carry the day because nine players cannot manage to play ten players,” he said.
Lumwana, who ended their six-match winless run are second from bottom with 33 points.
