NAPSA beat Kitwe Utd

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Napsa Stars boosted their chances of beating the drop after overcoming bottom-placed Kitwe United 2-0 at Woodlands Stadium on Wednesday.

The two relegation threatened sides were all eyeing to get maximum points but it was the home side that emerged victorious after 90 minutes.

Substitute Emmanuel Mayuka and Jacob Ngulube netted on 82 and at death respectively to hand the Pensioners a crucial win.

Mayuka replaced Bornwell Mwape.

Coach Mohamed Fathi said despite his team sitting in the relegation zone he is hopeful his team will finish in the top four.

Fathi said his charges will keep pushing and will aspire to get maximum points in the remaining games.

“I think it was a good performance from the boys. I believe the league is still open in the top four and relegation zone is not our place, I’m not worried about it because we will come out. There is no team relegated with me. I’m worried about top four so we just need to keep pushing and keep winning so that we get maximum points and we will be on top four as soon as possible,” he said.

And Kitwe caretaker coach Kasi Kalande described the loss as disappointing as his charges are still bottom on the Super Division League Table.

“At this point we can accept that we will be relegated looking because we are remaining with few games and looking at our points we have. This is the game that was going to make us change. I may say that my defenders have disappointed me because they could not concentrate in the last ten minutes of the game which has cost us,” he said.

He said the team has improved but it’s unfortunate they can’t score goals.
