Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga has urged the media to name and shame perpetrators of political Violence.
Mr Malupenga said this is one way that will help to put an end to political violence by those that are championing violence.
Mr Malupenga also encouraged the media to be professional before, during and after the 2021 General Election by following the Electoral Act.
“I’m happy that Journalists have not suffered any form of violence to date, I also want to emphasize that the Media should play a key role in highlighting more on Covid-19 because there still some people that are doubting that Zambia is now on the third wave of the pandemic,” he said.
Mr Malupenga was speaking during the launch of Media Guide to Reporting Elections in Zambia by Free Press Initiative in Lusaka today.
British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicholas Woolley has emphasized the need by all media houses to be fair in reporting and also on the need to protect journalists against Violence.
And Free Press Initiative Founder Joan Chirwa called on the private and public media to focus on promoting peace and Unity before, during and after the August, 12, general elections.
