North Western Water Supply and Sanitation Board members have signed a performance contract with the Ministry of water development and sanitation.

Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha said he is confident that the board which has been constituted is equal to the task in resolving some challenges the people of North Western Province are facing.

Mr Mposha said that the performance contract has indicators that will be used to assess the performance of the board against specific performance standards and targets.

He said that the performance contracts are intended to encourage high standards of performance and accountability and ensure objectivity and transparency in decision making and management of public resources.

“The performance contracts will be used as a yardstick to measure performance of individual boards and to reward performance or indeed re-appoint or disappoint the board.

“I am therefore encouraging you all to rise to the occasion in ensuring that these challenges are addressed,” he said.

The Minister has urged the board members that as they provide policy and strategic direction to be sensitive to the vision of the Government and the regular policy pronouncements provided by the President and his office.

Government is committed to ensure that services are made available to the people both in Urban and rural areas of Zambia.
