N/Western Minister launches 2022 tree plating exerciser

North Western Provincial Minister Robert Liefu has launched the 2021-2022 tree planting with a call on Local community to embrace the project.

Speaking during a Provincial  tree planting ceremony Mr Liefu Said  that the new Dawn government attaches great importance on the actualization of Green economy by promoting tree planting.
He said that President Hakahinde Hichilema has created a Ministry of Green economy and environment to underscore it’s commitment towards green economy.
The Provincial Minister said that several policy pronouncement have  been towards restoring the integrity of the  protected  forest reserve which have been encroached.
“We launching the tree planting which should be rolled out in all the eleven District of North Western province, we are now urging all our stakeholders , partners and Communities to venture into tree planting, He said.
He Said this in a speech read for him by North Western Province  permanent secretary Grandson Katambi during the 2021-2022 tree planting launch helds at Solwezi central correctional service facility.
And North Western Province principal forestry officer Maxwell Phiri said that most forests have been encroached and trees have been cut for charcoal burning and bush burnings.
Mr Phire said trees play an important role in human life by providing oxygen for human survival and protection from global warming.
