After winning the Super Division title with Zesco United in his maiden season, midfielder Kelvin Kampamba says his next target is to win the continental trophy with the Ndola side.

Kampamba formerly of Nkana said his objective when joining Zesco was to help them win the league and now he wants to focus on pushing for CAF Champions League success next season.

“My target is to reach the CAF Champions League final with Zesco because this team has reached the semi-final before so our target is to help this team to clinch the continental trophy,” he said.

The Chipolopolo midfielder said he will do his best to ensure Zesco surpasses the level they reached in previous continental engagements.

“My target, I put myself under pressure and every time I play I need to score or assist a goal so that the team moves forward. I continental it is not easy to represent the nation but I will do my best to reach the level this team have reached before,” he said.

On Sunday the Ndola outfit won the ninth title after humiliating relegation threatened Napsa stars 2-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

The win pushed the Ndola giants to 64 points with three games to spare.

Zesco took the lead through Kenyan Striker Jesse Were on 40 minutes and Kampamba doubled the advantage in the 81st minute.

Kampamba, who joined on a two-year contract deal from Nkana, said the team started the season on a bad note but they worked hard for them to win the league.

“The expectation with this team is always to win the league title, but we did not start the season very well. We pushed ourselves so that we can even win this league. We encouraged ourselves and worked hard.

“But my objective for coming here was to help the team win the league, qualify for the Confederation Cup and Champions League,” said the player who has also featured for Power Dynamos.

He said the team still needs to work hard in continental games as they are tough.

Kampamba has been one of the star campaigners for coach Mumamba Numba drilled side this season.

Numba is also winning the title in his first season with the club.
