MWSC awarded best Water Utility and aiming to go higher

The Board, Management and Staff wishes to thank its customers, stakeholders, Government and cooperating partners for the achievement of being awarded the Best Performing Commercial Water Utility in Zambia.

The company has been awarded the overall best performing in the water and sanitation sector among the 11 Commercial Water Utilities in Zambia at the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO) 2018 Urban and Peri Urban Water supply and sanitation sector report launch Held in Lusaka.

MWSC Managing Director Kanyembo Ndhlovu said, “I want to join you in congratulating all the gallant and hardworking members of the Mulonga family. Our achievement has not come by accident but by the commitment of each of us.”

“Now that the euphoria has died down, we should take stock of what we did well and do more of it and also look at what we did not do well and make it our mission to correct that.”

“Our regulator, using the said benchmark, has rated us the best. I want to share with you what the Minister’s speech contained that hit me hard. He said that no matter what, the customer’s perception is more important. That was sobering indeed. I therefore want to implore all of us to ensure that even as we enjoy this moment, we challenge ourselves to win the customers over. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get down to more hard work.” He said.

The NWASCO 2018 Urban and Peri-Urban Water supply and sanitation sector report launch took place on Friday, 5th April, 2018, in Lusaka at which 12 awards were up for grabs by the 11 Commercial Water Utilities across the country.

In addition to the Overall Best performing utility, MWSC was awarded Best performing in Sanitation service coverage by network and Operational and Maintenance cost coverage by collection.

The Chief Executive (CEO) of the year award was jointly won by Nkana Water Managing Director Mrs. Diana Makwaba and Kafubu Water Managing Director, Eng. Athanasius K. Mwaba, while second position was also jointly scooped by MWSC Mr Ndhlovu and Lukanga Water and Sewerage Managing Director Mr. Mushany Kapusana
