Mushindamo Town Council has granted 66 local cooperatives with certificates as conformational grant payments under Community Development Funds – CDF for the first quarter of 2022.

The local authority has disbursed four hundred seventy five thousand Kwacha to 66 cooperatives selected in the first quarter of CDF allocation.

Solwezi East Member of Parliament, Dr Alex Katakwe feels the disbursement of the funds to cooperatives is a great milestone to the district.

Dr Katakwe says the first 66 cooperatives selected are not the last but the the beginning of of beneficiaries from CDF.

“We as government is doing everything possible to respond to people’s livelihood and fight poverty in communities by giving grants to people to do various activities and businesses that will put food on their table,” he  said.

“My office as the area member of parliament-MP will ensure that our people get the benefit of charging government and by doing so we shall work closely with the local Authority to ensure that our people in the district benefit from CDF allocation.

He said that the money given to the cooperatives is a seed that will grow  and benefit many more people.

The area member of parliament-MP further urged the cooperatives to ensure that the money they have received to be put in good use and help to reduce poverty levels in communities.

And Mushindamo district commissioner Andrew Kalangwa said time to do business because government has given the opportunity to local coorperatives to venture into various businesses and opportunities.

Mr Kalangwa has however urged the local people to ensure that the money is put to good use and not abuse the funds.
