By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
The State has entered a Nolle Prosequi in the murder case were Former Patriotic Front (PF) Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri was co-accused with Shebby Chilekwa of murdering a UPND supporter in 2019.

This is in a case were the two are accused of murdering Lawrence Banda in Kaoma who was a UPND supporter.

Particulars of the offence are that Mumbi Phiri and Shebby Chilekwa on October 6, 2019 in Kaoma District whilst and jointly acting together murdered Lawrence Banda.

This happened during the Council Chairperson By-elections in Kaoma district

And Mongu High Court Judge Charles Zulu entered the Nolle on behalf of the Director Public Prosecution,  as Shebby Chilekwa’s fate will be decided this afternoon at 15:00.

And speaking outside the court after a Nolle was entered PF Acting President Given Lubinda said the party was not happy with the outcome as it would have been better for the judgment to be passed than a Nolle Prosequi.

Meanwhile, Mumbi Phiri’s Lawyer Makebi Zulu said there is no chance on earth that Mumbi Phiri will be rearrested.

Counsel Makebi said it was seen and heard how witnesses were paid to testify against Ms Phiri.

Mumbi Phiri’s family representative Nkandu Luo described the ruling as vindictive and unfair because Mumbi will be living not knowing whether or not she committed the crime.

And UPND Provincial IPS Lamasola Mubiana said the party is surprised at the PFs words after the Nolle Prosequi as the PF administered a lot of Nolle Prosequi in many cases and since called on the PF to be content with the Nolle Prosequi
