A 48 year old woman of Mufulira’s Chibolya Township has died after she was beaten by her boyfriend who is on the run.
CopperbeIt Police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said Gift Chomba was beaten on December 26, 2022 around 19:00 hours by her lover identified only as Henry, of the same area.
Mr Mweemba said Chomba sustained general body pains and the matter was later reported by her son Roy Mulenga, as assault occasioning actual body harm.
He said Chomba was referred to Kitwe Teaching Hospital, where she passed on at around 17: 00 hours.
“Unknown object is alleged to have been used. The matter was initially reported as assault OABH on 1 December, 2022 at about 20:00hrs. A medical report form was issued, and taken to Ronald Ross hospital, the victim was later referred to Kitwe central hospital, where she died on December 17, 2022 at about 17:00hrs,” he said
Mr Mweemba also said that a docket had been opened and a manhunt has been launched for the alleged killer.
