A-24-year-old second-year student at Ronald Ross General Hospital, has died after she was allegedly beaten by her Boyfriend.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner said said Doreen Kaimbo was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend, Rodney Bunda, on May 21, 2024, at around 05:00 hours in Kankoyo Township, Section C, Kantanshi, Mufulira.
Mr Mweemba said she was found unconscious and bleeding profusely by her grandfather, Venus Chingogo, who reported the incident to the police.
He said Upon visiting the scene, police found a knife and hammer stained with blood, and the floor was covered in blood.
Mr Mweemba said the case was initially opened as attempted murder, but with Kaimbo’s passing, the docket has been updated to murder.
“The suspect, Rodney Bunda, remains at large, and the case is still under active investigation.
We urge anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspect to come forward and assist the police in bringing justice to the victim and her family,” he said.
