Mpongwe man nabbed with K19,000 fake Money

Police in Mpongwe have arrested a 29-year-old man with fake Zambian Kwacha amounting to K19,300.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said that Kampenda Innocent (suspect) of Musangashi A area of Mpongwe approached Edith Kabwabwa a mobile money booth attendant to deposit K5, 000 but she had no space.

Mr Mwemba said the Booth attendant transacted K300 then when she was handed over the K300, cash money she noticed that the notes were fake and the suspect ran away.

He said quick action from the members of public helped to have him apprehended and he was found with a lot of fake kwacha notes in his kit.

“The suspect was handed over to the police together with the suspected fake kwacha notes and upon counting it mounted to K19,100, 00 and upon searching him he was found with k200, 00 fake kwacha notes, bringing the total to K19,300, 00 suspected counterfeit kwacha notes all in 100 kwacha notes,” he said.
