Mpika silk processing plant advances

Construction of the 31 million dollar Silk processing plant at the silk farm in Mpika has advanced.

Mpika District Commissioner Sampa Muswema who toured the Silk farm was happy with the progress achieved.

The farm is expected to accommodate about 2,000 employees in the initial stage of commencement of operations.

Sericulture Project Manager, Chewe Mulenga said that the company is currently constructing four warehouses, a canteen, staff houses and other structures.

ZANIS reports that Captain Mulenga said that the four warehouses will house machinery which will be used in the silk production.

“Two Chinese companies, Anbang Investments and Henan Tang Fri are involved in the construction of the structures at the Mpika Silk farm, the factory is likely to be operational by the end of August this year,” he said.
