A-31-year-old woman, Lawyer for food reserve agency has killed her son and attempted to commit suicide by taking suspected poison.
The Juvenile Ayden Sipalo 2, of ibex hill died after being given a suspected poison known as blue death insect powder Doom by the mother Namwene Phiri.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga who confirmed the incident said the body was found lying on the bed with foam of vomits on the mouth and the mother in a similar condition.
Mr Hamoonga said a written statement was found beside them confirming having committed suicide written on February 15, 2022.
He said the mother is still admitted to Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital as she attempted to commit suicide and survived.
Mr Hamoonga said she is in a critical condition and under police guard.
“The body of the child was deposited in University Teaching Hospital Mortuary on February 15, 2022 and Postmortem was conducted yesterday,” he said.
