A-32-year old woman of Lusaka’s Kanyama Township has allegedly burnt her 16–year-old daughter with hot porridge eloping.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the victim’s mother Mirriam Tembo allegedly poured hot porridge on her daughter after she eloped with boyfriend.
Mr Hamonga said Mirriam is currently in police custody for causing Grievous bodily harm to her daughter.
Meanwhile, University Teaching Hospital Public Relations Officer Natalie Mashikolo said the Hospital has continued to see an increase in cases of burns
She says currently the hospital has about 7 cases of burns of which two are epileptic.
Ms Mashikolo has since advised families with epileptic members to care for them especially when there is a brazier nearby.
