Monze Town council has opened the town’s first ever modern transit bus station in the district.

Monze Town Council Secretary Pythias Samakon’ga said the long awaited bus station has been opened and that operations has commenced.

Mr Samakon’ga said the bus station is now the only designated station for loading and offloading passengers within the central business district.

He said the temporal stations such as Road House, Tooters, and Food Royal which were being used as stations should no longer be used as stations.

Mr Samakon’ga said the law under the Bus Stations and Market Act gives the Local Authorities in the country to run stations and markets and that those who shall be found wanting will be penalized using the said Act.

He has since called on residents of Monze and other stakeholders to support the Local Authority in its quest to deliver improved social services to its people.

The bus station which is located behind Harry Mwanga Nkubula Stadium was built with help of KFW grant at a cost of over K5 million.
