The development of the 50 million US dollars Momboshi Irrigation Scheme in Chisamba District, Central Province has been completed.
Agriculture Minister Mtolo Phiri Says Momboshi Irrigation Scheme will be handed over to the farming community.
Speaking when he visited the irrigation scheme in Chisamba Mr Phiri said he was impressed with the success, and that government will work towards replicating the idea in other provinces.
He said with irrigation facilities, food insecurity would be a thing of the past, calling on farmers in the area to guard the irrigation scheme jealously.
And Irrigation Development Support Project (IDSP) National Project Coordinator Daniel Chamba said Momboshi Irrigation Scheme is a success that will work as an example for all many irrigation projects in the country.
Mr Chamba said everything has been done at the scheme and only waiting for official handover to the community in Momboshi.
