A local Oil marketing Company Midlands Zam-Oil Petroleum has started rolling out portable filling stations in rural areas in order to beef up fuel supply in far flang areas.
Company Chief Executive Officer Charles Mvula says the concept of placing portable fuel station will also help reduce on accidents arising from illegal fuel dealers.
Mr Mvula noted that access to fuel service station especially in rural areas has remained a challenge thereby affecting the flow of business in rural areas.
Mr Mvula said Midlands petroleum is currently in talks with Zambia Environmental Management Agency-ZEMA to certify the rolling out of the portable filling stations.
Mr Mvula has since praised government for guaranteeing sufficient fuel supply in the country.
And Company Spokesperson Joy Mvula noted that fuel remains an important commodity in the running of the economy, hence the need to roll it out in remote parts of the country.
Ms Mvula said the energy regulation board ERB have also been engaged to ensure that safety of the portable fuel station which will be set up in Chipata, Southern , and Copperbelt is assured.
