The Media Liaison Committee (MLC) is saddened with the death of veteran journalist Martin Musunka who died yesterday after a short illness.
Mr Musunka worked for the Times of Zambia newspapers for over 25 years where he rose to the position of Chief Sub Editor before retiring.
Media Liaison Committee Chairperson Enock Ngoma said that the Committee has learnt with deep sorrow and shock the passing away of Mr Musunka.
“We are saddened to hear that Mr Musunka is normal and as the MLC Committee we are sending our heartfelt condolences message to the bereavement family and the nation at large,” he said.
Mr Musunka was CEO of Suma Systems, the Publishers of Zambia and Solwezi today magazines until his untimely death.
Mr Ngoma said that Suma Systems was an active member of the MLC where Mr Musunka contributed immensely to the formation of the Zambia Media Council, the annual World Press Freedom Day event and generally towards the quest to develop a free press in Zambia.
He said Zambia has lost a veteran who is supposed to be a mentor to upcoming Journalists.
