Mkushi Town Council is pleased to announce the successful disbursement of funds under the government’s Cash for Work program.
This initiative aims to provide critical relief to vulnerable households affected by the 2023/2024 drought.
To date, the council has received a total of K10,203,950.00, which has been utilized to benefit various households across the 16 wards. The funding has been disbursed in three phases:
– First Funding: K980,002.89 received on August 21, 2024, benefiting 1,376 households with K830,000.00 and K150,000.00 for administrative costs.
– Second Funding: K4,093,929.96 received on October 10, 2024, benefiting 307 households with K2,972,240.34, leaving a balance of K1.1 million.
– Third Funding: K5,130,017.33 received on November 8, 2024, combining with the remaining K1.1 million from the second funding to support upcoming projects worth K6.3 million.
The council has ensured timely payments to beneficiaries, submitting expenditure returns to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. Mkushi Town Council remains committed to transparency and accountability in the Cash for Work program, aiming to benefit 616 households per ward, excluding 32 data entry clerks.
