Ministry Of Health dispels claims of antiretroviral shortage

The Ministry of Health denies claims that the country hasn’t been able to secure Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) for the past three months.

According to Professor Lloyd Mulenga, Director of Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, these assertions are not only false but also alarming.

Professor Mulenga reassured the public that the country has a sufficient stock of ART drugs, with a six-month stock level cover for the medications taken by over two million Zambians.

However, he noted that the country cannot overstock ARVs to prevent them from expiring.

Additionally, Professor Mulenga addressed the recent issue of limited taffard, which occurred a few months ago.

He attributed the shortage to a challenge on the supplier’s side, but assured that the issue has since been resolved.
