Ministry of Education has untrained Teachers on payroll

Dear Editor,

It has been discovered that some officers at provincial offices and district offices are accepting bribes from would be job seekers in the Ministry of General Education.

Some schools both Secondary and Primary have received individuals who are not trained as teachers at the expense of several trained Teachers who are on the waiting list to be recruited by Government.

This is a very sad development which is frustrating government intentions of providing quality education to all.

What has really gone wrong with Zambian? How can you offer employment in the Ministry of General Education to someone who has never been to any college of education?

Someone who cannot plan for teaching lessons or even handle learners properly. These quacks do not even know class management.

Training in teacher education is important because it equips the teacher in general planning in the school, preparation of lesson plans, preparation of lesson notes, class management, knowing learners psychologically.

And meeting date lines for all work given, preparation of tests and examinations, how to interact with the community, life adaptation at school and the community and school management and leadership.

The duration of teacher programmes generally is three (3) years for Diploma Courses or four (4) years for University Programme and one (1) year for Certificate Programme in Early Childhood.

But, some officers have ignored all what takes place in colleges and universities by employing quacks. Zambia! Where are we going? Zambia! Mwatichitisa manyazi, Zambia! Twasebana.

What are our learners going to get from impostors? This is a serious issue which should be investigated.

The writer has facts on the above mentioned subjects and the schools in question are in Chingola along Solwezi road.
